So...what do you do?
This is a question I’ve been asked a lot since I started West Shore Marketing. The answer is easy and difficult at the same time. Easy in the sense that I know what I want to do-help small businesses and nonprofit organizations create authentic content that drives results. It’s difficult because deciding what the content should be and how to get it out there can be overwhelming.
As business owners, we get bombarded with emails or posts that show up in our feed telling us that we “must” do these “x number of things” to stay relevant with clients. Content is king. Start a blog. Shoot a video. Make sure it has subtitles. Tweet everyday. We are constantly chasing the next big trend to gain an edge when it comes to getting the customers attention.
In reality, I’ve found that the right words and the right tool comes down to three things:
1. Be yourself: Let your voice shine through so you can develop an authentic relationship with current and potential clients, built on trust.
2. Have a goal: Be clear on what you are trying to achieve. Is it saving your employees time by adding easily answered questions to your website or creating $10,000 dollars in additional revenue? Either way-you have to know where you want to end up or else you’ll never find your way through the maze.
3. Don’t feel like you have to do it all: I get it-we are all slight control freaks when it comes to our businesses. But, let an expert help you create content-even if it’s just to bounce ideas off each other. Find someone who will be honest and creative.
So, what do I do? I help small businesses and nonprofit organizations create authentic content that drives results. How we get there depends on where your goals and what’s right for your business.
